The
Reason: God is alive and interested in you!
We live in a noisy world. A world full of distraction … myriad
alternatives that often disconnect, distract and divert us from the
authentic voice of God. Here is an opportunity to make a new habit,
to start a fresh journey. Whether you have read the Bible before or
are seeking to discover it for the first time, this is an
opportunity to allow God to grab your attention and develop skills
of listening to God, that will change your life. |
The
Benefits:
- Over the
year we will read the whole Bible.
- It is
not a study or homework exercise. It won’t be an in-depth
exploration of themes or historical context. It will be something
risky and refreshing.
- We will
hear God. He desires to communicate with us.
- We will
build a rich resource of our own to track our walk with the
Lord.
- We will
read with one expectation, one goal, one reason in mind – that God
will speak.
- We will
pray for God to grab our attention and to lead us in a journey of
life growth with Him.

The
Process:
- Just 15
– 30 minutes each day. Take a time that best suits you. Morning,
afternoon or night – it doesn’t matter, just aim for
regularity.
- Pray. A
short sentence something like: “Lord, I’m here, speak to me today
because I’m listening – please make me attentive to
you.”
- Read the
selected readings for the day as listed
- Write
down the verse or verses that speak the loudest to you. Verses that
grab your attention.
- Give it
a title. Something catchy and simple like “Hope in dry places”
“Look up and Live”
- Write
Journal entry. Write a brief paragraph or two on what the verse(s)
have stirred up in you. Conclude your writing with a prayer giving
thanks, seeking further guidance or reflecting your desire to
follow what has been revealed to you.
